Mahlia (R) with her mom Tonika |
At first doctors thought it was psoriasis, but then Mahlia had other symptoms including extreme fatigue, nausea and other symptoms below the skin that couldn't be explained.
Finally, she was finally diagnosed with lupus. Soon the lupus would also affect her kidneys, a condition known as lupus nephritis.
What causes pediatric lupus? How can we make this better? How many other children and their families have to see their child suffer?

We are so grateful to the Lupus Foundation of America for all that they have done for Mahlia and their commitment to pediatric lupus research. Mahlia's lupus is under control thanks to her medications and she has become a lupus advocate. We couldn't have made it through all this without them.
We need you to stand strong so that children like Mahlia receive the care and support they need to live healthy lives. We need you to support the research needed to find the causes and ultimately the cures for this devastating disease.
Thanks for joining the fight against pediatric lupus!
