New Clinical Research Study Helping Improve Time to Diagnosis

If you or someone you know are showing signs of lupus, we would like to share information with you about a new research study opportunity, the CARE FOR LUPUS study.
The CARE FOR LUPUS study is evaluating the effectiveness of the AVISE® Lupus Test in adults suspected to have lupus compared with ways doctors have traditionally diagnosed the disease. The AVISE® Lupus Test is a blood test developed by Exagen Diagnostics to aid healthcare professionals in the diagnosis of lupus and other autoimmune diseases. The Lupus Foundation of America contributed to initial research that led to the development of the AVISE® Lupus Test.
Getting an early diagnosis of lupus is critical to preventing long-term consequences of the disease. Unfortunately, there isn’t just one test doctors can use to determine if you have lupus. Doctors must consider many different sources of information to make a diagnosis. With the AVISE® Lupus Test, doctors can say “yes” or “no” to several similar diseases at the same time -- and this can help speed up the diagnostic process.
The study may be an option if you are 18 or older and are suspected to have lupus, but without a definite diagnosis. As this study evaluates a diagnostic test rather than a therapy, no experimental drugs are used. Qualified participants may receive study testing at no cost. A stipend will be provided for time and travel expenses.
If you or someone you know suspect lupus, visit the Lupus Foundation of America's National Resource Center on Lupus.

The Lupus Foundation of America works to educate and inform about clinical trial study options available to people with lupus and the importance of getting involved to help advance lupus research. The Lupus Foundation of America does not endorse specific trials. More information about lupus and clinical trials in your area can be found by visiting the Lupus Foundation of America’s National Resource Center on Lupus.
